Eating locally is great. We know that. The benefits purchasing from your local farmers is threefold. From supporting the families who work and live in your community. To keeping your hard earned money within your community. To keeping our carbon footprint small by reducing the length of kilometers our food travels from the farm to our dinner plates. The benefits go on and on.

As we have seen prices in grocery stores increase drastically over the last couple months, I know the price of food is becoming more of an issue for everyone I know. Now is a great time to find a local farm and learn how to support them. We have a couple great options for you depending on your freezer space & families needs!

Costs are rising for all of our inputs..

This is not to say shopping local is a cheaper alternative to purchasing meat & eggs from your typical grocery store. Supporting your local small family farms is essential. These rising costs we are seeing across the board, from packaging for our products, to butcher costs to feed costs & costs to purchase animals. In the last 5 years we have seen feed go from $12/bag to over $20 for certain feeds. This is a 60% increase on some things!

Many local farms, ours included, do a cost of production each year to price our products fairly to the consumer. We account for the cost of raising the animals, butcher bills, packages, transportation, labour to take care of the animals, upkeep on equipment etc.

Supporting small scale...

Now is a great time to invest in a chest freezer for your household and learn how to purchase meat in bulk from your local farmers! We offer bulk pricing on our pork & chicken, either 10 lbs boxes or half/whole pigs. You can even join our farm share program which is a monthly subscription to our farm, for $200 you receive a monthly box of meat & eggs! Read more about our Farm share here. If freezer space is an issue, we also sell all of our meat by the individual cut as well in our Farm store and our online store!

We want to be able to continue to grow our business, employ our staff, purchase feed locally, work with our local abattoir. And at the end of the day continue to provide you with an outstanding product that is not only delicious but healthy and nourishes your family and the land we raised our animals on. So we thank you for continuing to support small, your support means the world to us.
