CSA Frequently Asked Questions?

What will my share look like?
Each week there will be at least 7 -12 different vegetables in your basket. In the spring you can look forward to lots of greens, green onions, peas, radishes. With the summer heat it brings tomatoes, peppers and summer squash. The cooler nights of the fall bring lots of root crops including carrots, potatoes, parsnips and many winter squash!

The shares change weekly, this is the beauty of the CSA. To give you an idea what a share would include we have broke down three different baksets throughout the summer:
Spring: green onions, peas, garlic scapes, spinach, swiss chard, lettuce, turnips, radishes, bok choy, herbs, kale, rhubarb
Summer: onions, potatoes, zucchini, tomatoes, beans, beets, peppers, head lettuce, summer squash, garlic, kale, swiss chard
Fall: potatoes, fall squash, garlic, kale, head lettuce, beans, beets, onions, leeks, swiss chard, carrots, parsnips

When do I have to pay for my share?
Half of the installment is due before the CSA starts. The other half will be due in July. However, other payment options are always available! Please contact us for more information.

What if I cannot make a pick-up?
If you cannot make a CSA pickup it is best to let us know well in advance. If you are away for whatever reason you can always have a friend/family member or neighbour pick up your share! If it is an emergency, or last minute you will be provided with a number to call/text to inform the delivery person not to bring your share with them. Finally, if you want to change pickup locations from the farm to the Orangeville drop-off location, that is fine provided we have plenty of notice. Just remember that we are harvesting, washing and packaging these vegetables especially for you and your family.

Can I change the size of my share mid-season?
Yes! This is always an option! Feel free to discuss any questions or concerns with the delivery person!

What if I really like/dislike a certain vegetable?
If you are picking up on the farm this is something that you do not need to worry about. On-farm pick up allows you more freedom to choose exactly what you want in your share each week. If you are picking up at one of our drop-off locations however, you have less freedom this way. We pre-packaged the boxes for the drop-off locations, meaning every share is the exact same. Feel free to trade different vegetables with other customers at the drop-off locations however!!

Can I add other products from the farm to my share?
Yes!! You can add a variety of products: eggs, meat (chicken, pork, turkey, lamb), preserves, baking, pantry items, honey and maple syrup. You will be provided with a product and price list at the beginning of the season. Order can be placed weekly for add-ons. Orders must be in by Monday nights to allow us time to coordinate the shares. Add-ons must be paid for at time of pickup.

What if I have several friend/co-workers interested in a share?
We started last summer doing miniature drop-off locations and loved it! If you have at least 5 people interested in a share we will be willing to do a drop-off at your house, place of work etc. Location must be within Grand Valley, Orangeville and Shelburne area.
