Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have cancelled booking Blackhouse Dining experiences for this season. Check back in Spring 2022 for updates. We have put together a list of frequently asked questions regarding our Blackhouse dining experiences. Please contact us if you have any further questions for your special event.
1) What does the ticket include? The ticket includes a three course meal (lunches) and beverages. When booking our individual tickets on the website the cost includes the meal, HST and gratuities.
2) How do I book a dinner? If you are a group of 12-16 people celebrating a special event please visit our private page to select an available date. If you are looking for individual tickets 1- 11 tickets please visit our individual ticket dinner page to purchase your tickets.
3) Is the Blackhouse heated? We do have a woodstove and heaters in the Blackhouse, but please be aware of the weather and dress for the season! Dress code is casual. In the early spring and late fall we will have the woodstove going so it will be toasty warm!
4) Is the farm store open during a private lunch? The farm store will be open before, during and after your scheduled lunch, even if it is outside our regular store hours.
5) Is there bathrooms on site?
Yes, there are bathrooms on site, located in our farm store which is approximately 150 m from the Blackhouse.
6) Is the Blackhouse accessible? Yes! We aim to have all of the property accessible, please understand that sometimes the weather doesn't help us with this meaning we have lots of snow or mud! Please contact us with any questions.
7) Is alcohol included in the Blackhouse dining experience? No. We do not have a liquor license. We do however serve sparkling cider, lemonade, iced tea, coffee, tea and water. If you are interested in having alcohol at your private event please contact us for more details.
8) Can I bring my dogs/pets? As a working farm we have lots of animals including several working farm dogs. We ask that you leave all pets at home, unless they are registered service animals. Please contact us if you have any questions.
9) Are children welcome to come to a Blackhouse dining experience? For private events we love when children visit the farm for a meal. We do have special pricing for children based on their age and how many paying adults there are. For individual ticket dinners or themed dinners we do not have a special price for children as seats are limited to 16 guests per dinner.
10) Is tax and gratuities included? The cost for lunches ranges from $45-50/ person. This cost does not include tax or gratuities. If you purchase tickets through the website, both HST & gratuities will be added before checkout. If you pay for your dinner at the farm store it will also calculate the tax. If paying with a credit card/debit card you will be prompted with a "tipping screen". You are also welcome to tip our wonderful serving staff with cash.
11) What methods of payment do you accept? On our website we accept any major credit cards. In our farm store we accept cash, any major credit cards, apple pay, or debit.
12) Do we have to book in advance? If you would like to join us for a three course-full service dining experience you do need to book in advance. If you would like to just grab a sandwich, bakery treat or coffee and enjoy it in the Blackhouse you do it. Our Grab & enjoy menu is updated weekly through our Facebook page. This menu is available May - September.
13) Do we have to book tickets to see the Blackhouse? No, you do not! Please visit our farm during our Farm Store hours. Stop in the Farm Store and staff will direct you in the direction of the Blackhouse. Please do respect that you are visiting a working farm and you are not able to tour the entire farm. Our staff will tell you where you are able to tour and where you are unable to tour.
